Spain for LOVE…

A poll of 15,000 women that rated the world’s best and worst lovers found that German men topped the worst list because they were deemed “too smelly,” they reported.

The Germans were followed closely by the English, who were considered “too lazy,” while the Swedes, who came in third, were accused of being “too quick to finish.”

On the other end of the spectrum, Latin countries topped the “best lover” list, with Spain at number one, followed by Brazil, Italy and France, reported the Daily Mail.

The poll was carried out by and asked women from 20 countries to rate men from different countries based on their ability in bed. The women also had to provide an explanation for their answers, the Telegraph reported.

The Dutch were considered too rough, while Americans made it into the Top 5 on the worst lovers list because they were too dominating in bed, Fox News reported.

The other countries that also did badly are: Greece (soppy), Scotland (too loud), Turkey (too sweaty), Wales (too selfish) and Russia (too hairy), the Hindustan Times reported.

A spokesperson for added: ”These results are an eye-opener for thousands of men around the world and female travellers might judge potential new lovers by looking at these results.”

Two more big-name investors are reported to be looking for opportunities with exposure to Spanish real estate

Soros and Pimco latest big name investors to target Spain.

Two more big-name investors are reported to be looking for opportunities with exposure to Spanish real estate, in a further sign that international sentiment towards Spain has improved recently. What impact might this have on house prices?

First came Goldman Sachs and Bill Gates, with substantial investments in the Spanish real estate sector earlier this year. Now the billionaire investor George Soros, and Pimco – the largest bond investor in the world – are reported to be looking for opportunities related to real estate. With such illustrious names from the investment world now considering Spanish property, you can bet the rest will follow.

Soros is no stranger to Spanish property, having invested in holiday-home resorts during the boom. Through Perry Capital, he took a stake in the resort developer Medgroup, owner of the La Manga Club and Bonmont, but got out in 2010 reportedly “tired of the property crisis.” Assuming he invests, it will be interesting to see if he goes down the same road again, investing in resorts, or tries something different this time.


Bond vigilantes Pimco were bearish towards Spain until recently, but now that investor sentiment has improved so sharply (a Spanish asset manager I know says foreign investors will now buy all the distressed debt he can offer them) Pimco are reportedly looking to take advantage of depressed asset prices before the market turns.

Goldman Sachs, Bill Gates, Pimco, Soros, to name just some of the big-hitters currently invested in, or looking at Spanish real estate. Many others will follow, so what does it mean for prices in areas where foreigners tend to buy?

On the one hand it could drive retail (i.e. end-buyer) prices down, as fund investors try to liquidate their portfolios quickly, using a combination of attractive discounts and slick marketing.

On the other hand it might drive up wholesale investor prices, limiting the scope investors have to offer discounts to end-buyers.

Madrid and Palma de Mallorca, among the ten locations with the best quality of life in the world

Spain is the only country in the world that can boast two cities among the top ten places with the highest quality of life in the world: Madrid and Palma de Mallorca.

These are the conclusions of a study by the international team at Knight Frank, which takes into account various factors such as culture, education, cost of living, leisure activities, the range of top quality restaurants and the climate.

In this ranking, Dubai was considered the city with the highest quality of life in the world, due to its 350 days of sunshine a year, the low cost of living there, the wide variety of luxury leisure activities and the educational facilities available to foreigners looking to find a school for their children.

Meanwhile, the largest island in the Balearic archipelago, Mallorca, came in second place as a result of its 300 days of sunshine a year and the high scores it received in the other general factors being evaluated.

Madrid, the capital of Spain did achieve tenth place in this ranking thanks to its luxury leisure activities and the reasonable prices at which they are offered.

Otherwise, the list of the top ten destinations in the world for quality of life is made up of the Cayman Islands in third place, followed by Geneva and Cyprus, with London placed in sixth position, then Hong Kong, Singapore, Auckland and Monaco.

However, this study also makes a mention of the top destinations in which to retire. In this case, the best places to live a quiet life are: Auckland, Ottawa, Mallorca and the Virgin Islands.  According to Knight Frank, this ranking took into account public transport, the range of cuisine, leisure for seniors, safety, the cost of living and a mild climate.

And in the section on the best cities in which to start a new life, this study reveals that Auckland, Geneva, the Cayman Islands and Monaco are the best locations in which to pursue a career. The main reasons are their political stability and the tax breaks they offer to their citizens.
